Privacy
the short version: we collect nothing
Curious Kea is a story game for children. That makes privacy simple: the safest data is data that was never collected, so we built the whole thing around not collecting any.
What we collect
Nothing. There are no accounts to create, no names or emails to type in, no ads, no third-party trackers, and no analytics inside the game. Nothing a child does in Curious Kea is sent to us or to anyone else.
Where progress lives
Expedition progress, the Wonder Log, and earned patches are stored on your own device, in your browser's local storage. They never leave it. That has one honest consequence worth knowing:
- Progress belongs to the device and browser it was made on. A different device starts fresh.
- Clearing the browser's site data erases progress. We could not restore it even if you asked, because we never had it.
Children
The game is designed for ages 7 to 10, and it is built to be safe by construction rather than by policy: it never asks a child for personal information, never shows advertising, and has no chat, comments, or contact with other players.
This website
curiouskea.nz is a set of plain pages. It uses no advertising or tracking cookies. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs to keep the site running and secure.
If anything changes
If we ever add something that touches data, for example an optional way to back up progress, it will be opt-in, explained here in plain language first, and the game will keep working fully without it.
